How to Delete Watch History and Search History on YouTube
As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, you can delete your watch history and search history on YouTube by following these general steps. Please note that the steps might have changed, and it’s advisable to check YouTube’s current interface for the most accurate instructions:
Delete Watch History:
- Sign In to Your YouTube Account:
- Go to the YouTube website and sign in to your account if you’re not already signed in.
- Access History:
- Click on the three horizontal lines (hamburger menu) in the top-left corner of the YouTube homepage. This opens the menu.
- Go to History:
- In the menu, find and click on “History.” This will take you to a page where you can manage your watch and search history.
- Delete Watch History:
- On the History page, you should see options to manage your watch history. Look for a “Clear All Watch History” button or an option to clear individual videos.
- Confirm Deletion:
- Confirm that you want to delete your watch history. This action is usually irreversible.
Delete Search History:
- Access History:
- Follow the same steps as above to access the “History” page.
- Switch to Search History:
- On the History page, there should be tabs for both “Watch history” and “Search history.” Click on the “Search history” tab.
- Delete Search History:
- Look for an option to clear your entire search history or delete individual searches. There might be a “Clear All Search History” button or options to remove individual items.
- Confirm Deletion:
- Confirm that you want to delete your search history. Again, this action is usually irreversible.
On Mobile Devices:
If you’re using the YouTube mobile app:
- Open the YouTube app.
- Tap on your profile picture in the top right.
- Go to “History.”
- Follow similar steps as mentioned above to clear watch and search history.
